Gothic Thumblatch

Pointed top and bottom of the handle to envoke the feeling of the 'Gothic' or 'Pointed' architecture & style. The thumb piece passes through the door and raises the latch bar off the keep. To restrict the latch bar movement a staple pin and a screw-on staple pin are provided (discard unused pin or find another use around the home). Thumb bar size allows for use on doors with a maximum thickness of 55mm. Sold as a set and supplied with necessary fixing screws.
If you require locking your toilet or bathroom door the locking staple pin or the locking screw-on staple pin is the answer. They have a leather thong with a pin to stop the movement of the latch bar.

Traditionally used on a ledge and braced door, a thumb latch set is a decorative door latch with a thumb shaped lever. When the thumb shaped lever is pressed down this operates a thumb bar which passes through the door, this lifts the latch bar on the opposite side causing it to open.

Our external beeswax is unique to and is manufactured from an anti-corrosive beeswax which is salt tested to 480 hours. It has a matt richness and similarly to our standard beeswax the depth of colour ranges from blue to deep red ochre.

Our blacksmith thumblatches are hammered into shape from mild steel using the traditional manufacturing method of an anvil and fire.

Thumblatches are usually used in conjunction with a tee hinge on traditional plank doors.
